Liverpool announced last week their plan to raise the price of season tickets by two per cent. In response, supporters’ groups have decided to protest by not displaying flags on the Kop at Anfield during Thursday’s Europa League quarter-final first leg.
Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, expressed confidence that a solution will be found amidst the discontent over the club’s decision to increase season ticket prices. He acknowledged the concerns of the supporters and expressed his understanding of the situation, emphasizing the club’s self-sustaining nature.
Klopp reassured that efforts will be made to ensure that there is no rift between the club and its supporters. Earlier in the day, Spion Kop 1906, a Liverpool supporters’ group, issued a statement expressing disappointment with the club’s decision on ticket prices for the upcoming season.
They announced that in protest, there would be no flags displayed on the Kop during the upcoming game, stating that this decision was made after consultation with other fan groups. Klopp expressed that the absence of flags would not affect the team as long as the supporters were present.
He stressed the importance of maintaining a positive dialogue with the supporters’ board and hoped for a resolution before the upcoming meeting on Saturday.
