Liverpool Defender Trent Alexander-Arnold Sidelined for ‘Several Weeks’ with Minor Knee Ligament Tear

Liverpool’s assistant coach, Pepijn Lijnders, has provided an update on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s injury. It was revealed that Trent hyperextended his knee during the last game against Arsenal in the FA Cup third round, resulting in a tear in the lateral ligament of his knee. As a result, he will need time to recover and will be out of action for a few weeks. Lijnders expressed the team’s disappointment at losing such a decisive player and acknowledged that his absence will be felt.

With Alexander-Arnold sidelined, there may be an opportunity for Northern Ireland defender Conor Bradley to step up in the Liverpool team. The 20-year-old played a few minutes in the right-back role during Liverpool’s recent win against Arsenal. Lijnders emphasized that Liverpool has many weapons and no player is irreplaceable. They have a squad with a lot of other qualities, and while they will miss Trent’s contributions, they have players who can step up in his absence, such as Diogo Jota.

Lijnders also provided updates on other injured players. He mentioned that Virgil van Dijk has been making progress in his recovery and will be back in the squad soon. Dominic Solanke is also progressing well and is currently running, although he won’t be available for the upcoming match. Andy Robertson is nearing the three-month mark in his recovery and will undergo a scan before potentially heading to Dubai for further training. Kostas Tsimikas is also progressing rapidly.
